We travel Cave Creek road on every trip down to Mesa. This road has many rock hounding places that we like to explore – unfortunately it takes a lot of time to travel in and get out before dark. The first year we traveled to the end of FR24 then over Bloody Basin road through Agua Fria National Monument to Highway I17. It took us 8 hours with only a couple of stops to snoop in the rocks along the way. So there are still many places to explore in this section of the Tonto National Forest….and we still want to redo the stretch from FR24 to Agua Fria – incredible scenery.
